DETAIL: A wonderful original impressionist oil painting by David Wilson. Wilson was born in Hobart Tasmania the 4th of 15th children. He studied art in Melbourne studying later with Archibald Colquhoun. He had a successful first exhibition at the Victorian Artists Society in Melbourne but in 1949 he moved to England to further his painting under the gentler and more artistic light of Europe. Here he met fellow Australian painter Heyward Veal in Reigate Surrey and studied with him for a number of years. David Exhibited widely in the Uk from 1952 until the late 80’s including at the Royal Academy, New English Arts Club, The Royal Institute Of Oil Painters amongst others. He lived in London but later moved to St Albans Hertfordshire where he lived until his death in 2013.
