DETAIL: A beautiful 1920’s English oil painting by Margaret Kemplay Snowdon. Snowdon was born in Leeds and studied at the Royal Academy Schools in London from 1900-1905. She was likely a fellow student and close friend of Bloomsbury painter Vanessa Bell who wrote to her in 1904 according to Bloomsbury Group records. Usually known as Margaret Snowdon or Snowden and referred to as ‘Old Snow” by Virginia Wolfe. She later lived in Cheltenham, her address inscribed on the back of this painting. The painting entitled “Ready For Supper” and held in a new replacement frame.
