DETAIL: Artist in acrylic, born in London. He was always interested in painting, studied and practised furniture design until 1980, then decided to paint full-time. Whybrow, notable for his still lifes with apples, said that he was “only interested in the aesthetics of painting (no story to tell)”. Exhibited widely in mixed shows through the United Kingdom and America, including Marsden Fine Art and Belgrave Gallery. Had many solo shows in Cornwall, where he lived in St Ives, married to the writer Marion Whybrow, whose books on art in Cornwall included St Ives 1883–1993, published in 1994, The Leach Legacy, 1996 and a study of Alfred Wallis, Mary Jewels, Bryan Pearce and other Primitives, in 1998.
